Developed in the Model Projects Smart Cities programme

All your municipality’s data in one place.

CiviPort is the urban data platform for towns and cities. It brings together sensor readings, buildings, water supply, energy and geodata and makes them visible on dashboards, maps and in a 3D view of the municipality.

The challenge

Every system has its own portal.

The waterworks has a control system, the school a heating app, the public works depot a spreadsheet, and the radio sensors run through an external network operator. CiviPort brings this data into one platform that belongs to your municipality.

Use cases

What municipalities do with CiviPort

Water

Wells, reservoirs and pumping stations at a glance. Plus smart water: irrigate sports fields only when the soil needs it.

Buildings

Temperature, heating and consumption in schools, nurseries and the town hall, connected through existing building technology.

Energy

Control PV systems, battery storage and power consumers so that power is used when it is cheapest.

Wireless sensors

LoRaWAN sensors through the municipality’s own gateway network, without being tied to a network operator.

3D view

Buildings, zoning plans and readings in a 3D model of the municipality, right in the browser.

Open data

Publish selected data according to DCAT-AP.de so citizens, businesses and state portals can use it.

Architecture

How CiviPort is built.

Every reading passes through a central data gateway. There it is validated, logged and given access rights before it is stored. This way you know for every value where it comes from and who is allowed to see it.

Three access levels: public, restricted and non-public. Data is stored according to the NGSI-LD standard and the Smart Data Models, so it can be exchanged with other platforms.

  2. ConnectivityInterfaces and connectors, LoRaWAN network server
  3. Data gatewayValidation, logging, catalogue, access rights, lineage
  4. StorageTime series, geodata, files, metadata catalogue
  5. AnalyticsAlerts, derived values, AI analysis

Implementation and operation

What implementation and operation include.

CiviPort is open source. You pay for what a municipality really needs: implementation, maintenance and, if you wish, operation.

Implementation

Fixed price based on the size of the municipality, including a workshop, integration of your systems, dashboards and training.

Maintenance

Annual contract in three tiers, with updates, security patches and guaranteed response times.

Compliance package

Data protection and information security documentation from our Compliance Consult division.

Origin

Developed in the Model Projects Smart Cities programme.

CiviPort was developed for the Smart Region AUF in the German federal programme Model Projects Smart Cities. As the programme requires, the source code is open and published on OpenCoDE, the public sector’s platform for open-source software.
